:: Episode 209: Nosy Neighbors
Kenkyuusareteru (Being Researched)
Summary
And now, our feature presentation... Nosy Neighbors.
Top of the third inning! Having been figured out by Nishiura, Bijo's batters all fail like a bunch of Hero Boys, slowly but surely giving Abe and Mihashi their confidence back. Roka, still watching from the stands, is not pleased when he is suddenly joined by Kazuki!
But before anything interesting can happen, we're forced to return to Nishiura. Abe, not having used his fake head-shake sign yet, asks Mihashi if he's disappointed (he isn't. WHAT A TOOL), while Mizutani is being a huge spaz. Izumi does his little tickle thing to calm him down, and he's off to bat! Izumi screams at him to pull his arms in, causing him to tickle himself, and with that, he hits and makes it onto the base! Whatever works...
Mihashi's turn. Abe roar-whispers to him from the dugout to watch out for his fingers, but Mihashi totally misunderstands. Either way, Izumi is pretty fed up with Abe at this point. Haha. Abe has no friends. EITHER WAY, Mihashi hits, somehow succeeding in both advancing Mizutani AND getting himself on base mostly thanks to Bijo being foolish. Roka is not pleased.
Izumi's turn to hit, and he manages to advance the runners even further. Mizutani is now a Third Runner! Sakaeguchi hits, and Nishiura scores their first point. Oh well, it happens. Suyama is next, then the dreaded Tajima. Yoshito is TOTALLY fired up though, failing Tajima perfectly! The round ends, and Takeshi proclaims his love for Yoshito before looking up at Roka.
Kazuki can't help but notice this, and he asks Roka why Takeshi is being their starting catcher instead of Naomasa. Roka doesn't feel like elaborating though. The two of them watch as it's Bijo's turn to attack, still failing. Takeshi is batting next, and Kazuki notices when he looks up at Roka again. Kazuki starts prodding Roka about it, asking if perhaps Roka might be giving him signs, but Roka basically just tells him to shut up and get lost, but there's no way Kazuki is leaving now, especially as Takeshi once again looks Roka's way after failing at batting!
MEANWHILE, Abe nags at Mihashi, news at eight! He specifically tells him to avoid injuries (this is an important plot point). Hanai strolls by and awkwardly tries to strike up a conversation before running off to bat. He hits it and gets on base, and Oki advances him all the way to THIRD! Abe is next, but Yoshito is WAY too fired up to let him succeed, especially since this is his last inning as a pitcher for the time being. He is soooo coo-uhl!!! Still, it's MIZUTANI who manages to bring Hanai back home, giving Nishiura the second point. Eh, still far from winning! What follows is the most awkward high five EVER between Hanai and Mihashi. Sakaeguchi and Oki wonder if they perhaps should tickle everyone from now on, but that plan fails when Abe and Suyama announce they aren't ticklish.
That little bit of stupidity aside, the round ends with Mihashi failing.
Bijo gets on the offensive again, and Yoshito is batting! Bijo is catching on to Nishiura's strategy again, so he hits and gets on base. Ko is next, doing a wonderful job at getting Yoshito onto third base and himself onto first. Tetsuro gets Ko a bit further. Yoshito is pretty desperate to make up for the last point he gave up, and thanks to Yano's (AAAHHH) terrific batting, he makes it back home! Yeah!! Mihashi and Abe are both pretty close to crumbling at this point, but they manage to pull themselves together and finish the next batter, Makoto, off, getting to test out their fake head shaking in the process.
Best parts
Childish grudge against Nishiura or not, Mizutani is absolutely darling and there is nothing I can do to deny it.
I can't seem to be able to deny the hilarity of Hanai's awkward high five either. Dang!!
I like the interaction between Roka and Kazuki a lot, especially with Kazuki's extreme nosiness and Roka trying to change the subject.
The little but unfortunately wonkily drawn part with Takeshi, Ko and Yoshito and Yoshito's manly chuckling. YOSHITO IS THE MAN!
