Summary
RIO!!! Season two begins with RIO!!! WOW!!!!! He's dejectedly on his way home after his team's ridiculous loss against Nishiura. What greets him inside is terrible! Horrible! It's his big brother ROKA!!! Roka is here to make fun of his baby brother for losing, then tells him that his team, Bijo, will get revenge on Nishiura for them. All Rio has to do is tell him all about Nishiura and obtain information from his new best friend Tajima...
After the opening credits, we come face to face with Shinooka! She is approached by two incredibly ditzy girls named Ogawa and Tomoi who somehow stutter out that they would like to become cheerleaders for the baseball team. At this point Abe pops in and tells Shinooka to get back to the kitchen, and the girls' reactions suggest they've never seen a boy before in their entire lives.
We turn our attention to Mihashi's class who are right in the middle of a soccer match. Tajima gets to show off - he's apparently just as good at soccer as he is at baseball. Fast-forward to the lunch break! Mihashi, Tajima, Izumi and Hamada chit-chat, and Shinooka comes by and tries to introduce Ogawa and Tomoi to them, but of course, they chicken out because boys have cooties. Hamada tries to start a conversation about Momoe, but it gets awkward and ends.
The scene changes to Roka and Kazuki meeting each other at a diner, Roka's plan being to bribe Kazuki into telling him all the little details from the Nishiura-Tosei match with food. And so we get to spend like ten minutes with Roka and Kazuki sitting around talking! Rapture! Discussing the strange awkwardness of Nishiura doesn't really get them anywhere though. As Roka takes off on his little motorbike, Kazuki wonders if he'll ever want to play baseball again.
An unknown amount of time later, Nishiura gathers around to watch the match that will determine their next opponent, between a random team with horrible orange caps that would make Mihoshi wince, and the swellest team in the world, Sakitama. Momoe announces the batting order, and Tajima is horribly disappointed that he won't be fourth because of his injury. Momoe has to practically just snap her fingers in order to hype him up for his new position, though! The Nishiuralings are instructed to watch the match carefully with their new positions in mind.
